Which one you pick changes how you size the machine and how you pay — but not what you can do with it afterwards. Every cloud server lands on the same management page in the portal with the same tools.\n\n# Two ways to buy a cloud server\n\n- Fixed plans — the **Cloud VPS** and **GPU VPS** ranges. Each plan is a preset combination of vCPU (virtual CPU cores), RAM and NVMe storage at a fixed monthly price, invoiced up front.\n- Build your own — **Cloud Instances**. You set the exact number of vCPU cores, the amount of memory and the disk size yourself, and pay either monthly by invoice or hourly from your account balance.\n\n# The fixed-plan lines: Standard, 100 Gbps and GPU\n\nCloud VPS plans are grouped into lines on the product page:\n\n- Standard — balanced plans for everyday workloads: websites, application servers, mail and development machines.\n- 100 Gbps — plans aimed at workloads that move a lot of network traffic.\n- GPU — **GPU VPS** plans for machine learning, rendering and other GPU compute. The order form for these includes a free \"Docker with NVIDIA runtime\" option so the server arrives ready for containerised GPU work.\n\nTo order one, open the Cloud VPS product page on our website, or open **Cloud VPS** in the portal sidebar and click **Order New Service** to pick the plan there. At checkout you choose a billing cycle — **Monthly**, **Quarterly**, **Semi-annually** or **Annually** — and the server deploys automatically as soon as the invoice is paid. The full checkout is covered in [Place your first order](/kb/place-your-first-order).\n\n\u003e Later plan changes stay within the same line: a Standard plan can be upgraded or downgraded along the Standard ladder, but not switched to a GPU plan. Pick your line for where the workload is going, not only where it starts.\n\n# Cloud Instances: set an exact size\n\nThe Cloud Instances configurator shows three lines as cards — **Compute Optimized**, **Memory Optimized** and **Storage Optimized**. Pick a preset size, or drag the **vCPU**, **Memory** and **NVMe storage** sliders to build a custom one. Then fill in the **Hostname**, choose an **Operating system** and optionally paste an **SSH public key**. The price summary updates live with a per-resource breakdown, and the form shows the minimum monthly total an instance must reach.\n\n![The Cloud Instances configurator: billing tiles, line cards, preset sizes and the vCPU, Memory and NVMe storage sliders](/assets/kb/vps/order-configurator.png)\n\nThe billing tiles at the top decide how you pay:\n\n- **Hourly** — each full hour is charged from your account balance, so add funds under **Payments** first (see [Account balance and top-ups](/kb/account-balance-topup)). The button reads **Deploy now** and the instance builds immediately, with no invoice. A stopped instance pays only for its disk and IP address, and you can delete an hourly instance at any moment — billing stops with the current partial hour. The button reads **Order \u0026 continue to payment**.\n\nYou can enlarge a Cloud Instance's vCPU and memory later from its **Resize** tab; the disk size stays as ordered. See [Resize or change plan](/kb/vps-resize-plan-change).\n\n# Which line for which workload\n\n- Websites, app servers and development: a Standard **Cloud VPS** plan or a **Compute Optimized** Cloud Instance.\n- Databases and caches that need plenty of RAM: a **Memory Optimized** Cloud Instance.\n- Large datasets on fast disks: a **Storage Optimized** Cloud Instance.\n- Traffic-heavy services: a plan from the 100 Gbps line.\n- Machine learning, rendering, GPU compute: a **GPU VPS** plan.\n- Short-lived, experimental or bursty work — test machines, batch jobs, staging: an hourly **Cloud Instance**. Deploy it, use it, delete it, and pay only for the hours it existed.\n\n# Every line gets the same management tools\n\nWhatever you choose, the server is managed from the same page in the portal: power controls and live vitals, a browser-based console, usage statistics, manual snapshots with a paid Backups add-on ([Snapshots and backups](/kb/vps-snapshots-backups)), an opt-in cloud firewall ([Use the cloud firewall](/kb/vps-cloud-firewall)), OS reinstall and rescue mode ([Reinstall the OS or boot rescue mode](/kb/vps-reinstall-rescue)), hostname, root password and reverse DNS management, and always-on network DDoS protection ([Manage your protected IPs](/kb/protect-your-ips)).
